Education | José Unda

José Unda started his painting journey at a very young age. Once he started he knew that was the path he was destined for. He is a classically trained painter that attended multiple scholastic institutions in two countries.

José Unda attended the School of art in Ecuador in the 1960’s where he learned to develop his unique art language and identified the best self he can be. In the late 1970’s he attended the New school of art in Toronto, Canada. He developed a great friendship with painters, Jon Macgregor, Martin Ron, Ray Mead, and Katsura Kamura. They provided a lot of knowledge and a two way exchange of ideas. These helped him grow as an artist. Most importantly to him he viewed them as great human beings.

1963-1969. Escuela de Bellas Artes. UC. Quito, Ecuador

1978-1979. The New School of Art. Toronto, Canada
