Why he paints in Series?

José Unda doesn’t individually name his paintings. Instead he follows a Process:

  1. He paints a number of paintings on acid paper within the same series in order to master his concept and painting technique.
  2. He will then use his concept and technique to paint the same series on canvas.
  3. Once he has painted enough canvases that allow him to explore that series in depth he is finished with that series.
  4. He will move onto a different concept and thus paint a new series following steps 1-3.
